No one likes unwelcome house-guests like ants, rats, cockroaches, and other pests that can spread disease or cause property damage. At the same time, the use of pesticides and other chemicals give parents a cause for concern. Rest assured though: Eliminating critters and safeguarding your kids and pets from the more toxic pesticide products are not mutually exclusive goals.
Key methods of home pest control include the use of integrated pest management (IPM) techniques such as screening windows or vents, sealing holes on the interior and exterior of the home, keeping food in sealed containers, keeping a clean trash storage area, and removing other common pest attractions. IPM for pet pest control includes grooming, bathing, and keeping pet sleeping areas vacuumed and bedding laundered regularly.
